Immunitea Balls
With COVID-19, it’s more important than ever to take extra steps daily to build up our immune systems. One of the more exciting concoctions I’ve made so far has been these ImmuniTea Balls. Packed with protein & filled with medicinal herbs to support your immune system, these ImmuniTea Balls have become one of my new favorite on the go sweet & salty treats.
This recipe is inspired by Rosemary Gladstone’s Zoom Balls. Any of the herbs can be switched out to fit your preferences. I chose to make my recipe with sunflower butter so that they would be allergy friendly and they came out with a delicious sweet and subtle herbal flavor.
I purchased my medicinal herbs from Green Wisdom (linked below) but they can be found at most local herbal medicine shops or purchased in bulk online. If you can’t find the herbs ground, simply use a coffee grinder to break them down into a powder. A mortar and pestle can also be used for this.
Ingredients
1 cup sunflower butter
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup astragalus powder
1/4 calendula powder
1/4 cup echinacea powder
1/4 cup holy basil powder
1 tbsp ground ginger
1 tbsp ground cardamom
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup shredded coconut
1/4 cup cocoa powder
Instructions
Mix together the honey & sunflower butter in a large bowl.
One at a time, add astragalus, calendula, echinacea, and holy basil powders. Next, add in the ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon to form a dough like mixture.
Roll into bite sized balls. Mix the shredded coconut & cocoa powder on a plate. Roll the balls in the mixture until they are covered to preference.
Store the balls in an airtight container & refrigerate for up to 10 days.
